Friends of Tempe Center for the Arts is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the arts at the TCA.

The Friends of Tempe Center for the Arts is an all-volunteer organization comprised of Tempe residents, business owners and community activists who work together to raise funds through public, private and philanthropic sources. Many of the FTCA Board members are citizens who worked for the passage of Prop 400 in 2000 to make the TCA a reality. The Friends of TCA received their IRS non-profit 501(c)(3) certification in July 2007.

Since the 2007 opening of the TCA, the Friends of TCA have raised funds to support TCA programming for jazz, theater, chamber music, dance, Walk-in-Wednesdays Open Mic, Songwriters’ Showcase, and EDGE Happy Hour performances. The Friends of TCA also help to sponsor programming, receptions, private and public openings at the TCA Gallery. We fund workshops and lectures by exhibiting artists; support educational outreach including online art curriculum for elementary and secondary students; and provide Tempe high schools with artist based residences and workshops.

You can help to support the arts at the TCA by attending TCA events and joining the Friends of TCA.

About TCA

The Tempe Center for the Arts (TCA) is one of the finest venues in Arizona – a jewel in the crown of a city known for its support of the arts. The TCA is located on the southwest end of Tempe Town Lake and resides in a beautifully appointed 17-acre lakeside art park developed by Design Workshop, a Tempe landscape architecture firm.

The strikingly magnificent TCA, designed by Tempe-based ARCHITEKTON and award-winning Barton Myers Associates of Los Angeles, houses a state-of-the-art, 600-seat proscenium theater, a 200-seat studio theater and a 3,500 square-foot gallery. The finely appointed Lakeside room overlooks Town Lake, with views of the Papago and Camelback mountains, and is available for meetings, banquets and special events.

For more information, including location and hours, events, ticketing, exhibitions, and facility rental, please visit the Tempe Center for the Arts website.

Friends of TCArt Shop is located just inside the main entrance of the Tempe Center for the Arts. The shop sells fine art, ceramics, fine craft jewelry, scarves, other wearable art, purses, CD’s, note cards and more all designed by local and regional artists. Proceeds support artists, exhibitions, education and Friends’ programs at the TCA.

The TCArt Shop is open from 1-4 p.m. Thursday/Friday/Saturday and during most scheduled public events at the TCA. The TCArt Shop is also an exciting place to volunteer and welcomes interested adults. Call the shop 480-350-5660 to find out more or email

Case for Support

This year the Tempe Center for the Arts will bring the magic of the arts to life for more than 175,000 children and adults. With earned revenue from rental fees, ticket fees, and technical labor covering just a small portion of the annual operating costs, our continued success depends on you!

By becoming a Friend of TCA you will support many of the wonderful things happening at the Tempe Center for the Arts. Your fully tax-deductible annual contribution will be used to:

  • Keep rental rates affordable for our local performing arts organizations
  • Bring local artists for musical, visual and spoken arts
  • Support Arts Career Day at TCA for high school youth
  • Keep the TCA thriving, well-equipped and accessible to the entire community
